“Hooper’s Judge” pays homage to Robert C. Hooper of Boston, who in the late 1800s owned a bull-and-terrier mix named Judge. That dog, known as Hooper’s Judge, is recognized by the American Kennel Club as the ancestor of all modern Boston Terriers. The breed, first appearing around 1875, has since become a beloved symbol of the city.
